To use Windows VPS server hosting, a connection to the server using Remote Desktop is required. This connection is done through the Remote Desktop Protocol that has the default TCP port number of 3389. When window virtual hosting in the Remote Desktop through a different private port number set by each client, it can reduce the risk of brute force attack.
- Right click the Start Menu and select the Run button.
- Type regedit in the dialog box and press ok.
- In the Windows Registry Editor, navigate to the folder through this path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp
- Click the Port Number.
- Select Decimal and enter the port number that customized by yourself then clicks ok.
- Restart your PC.
